I think it was your blog where I first heard of The Hunger Games, and I finally finished the trilogy last night. What do you think of the movie casting? I am dubious about the choices for Cinna and Peeta, but everyone else looks great and the choice for Haymitch is genius.

I was one of those people who uttered mutinous murmurs when they cast a (blonde!) white girl as Katniss. Based on the descriptions of "olive skin" and dark hair, I'd pictured her as vaguely Asian-ish, but with gray eyes (felt similar about Haymitch). (I sort of assume that the world of the books is one in which ethnic groups have blurred around a bit.) It wasn't that I thought Katniss couldn't be white, but her original casting call said, "white or any other race", as if white were the preference, and I definitely had issues with that. I've heard this actress is very talented, though - haven't seen her in anything - so I'm hopeful she'll do a good job ( ... )
