I've just watched Farscape: The Peacekeepers Wars, mostly 'cause
antikesquies said it was great and, what the hell, if there's a show I could see after the ending of BSG, that HAD to be Farscape (or BtVS, but I've already seen that).
The thing is... shows' endings aren't always as great as we want them to be. Actually, that happens most of the times. But sometimes, just sometimes, there's a show which can do it. And there's this amazing final episode and you just can't complain. I loved the final scene of Angel, the series. I was much more than happy with BtVS's final episode. And... the same happened with Battlestar Galactica '03 (
and I wrote my post-episode post) and Farscape.
"My name is John Crichton, an astronaut. A radiation wave hit and I got shot through a wormhole. Lost in some distant part of the universe on a ship, a living ship, full of strange alien life forms. Help me. Listen, please. Is there anybody out there who can hear me? Being hunted... by an insane military commander. Doing everything I can. I'm just looking for a way home."
The first time I knew about Farscape was because of
nimphetamina. She watched two episodes and she put a John/Aeryn header in her livejournal. That was long time ago, and I just added the show in my loooong list of shows-to-see, but I forgot about it. Then
joanne_distte started watching it. And then I 'met'
antiqueskies, who may not like BSG that much but *loves* Farscape (right? =P), and it was because of her that I decided that it was the moment to start watching the show. (Later I knew that
nasirid was watching it and that
mordaz and
katayla were fans too, yay!).
The first episode was... a weird experience. I don't know what the hell I did, but the first thing I saw was Rygel and for some moments I doubted if I was watching a sci-fi show or Sesame Street. But I kept watching, and by the end of it, the show had already caught me. I liked it. I liked it but that was all. And then Scorpius appeared and only two episodes later I just had to say that I was in love with the show.
And by the end of the season 5/miniseries, I'm in love with every character, every storyline, every sad moment, every funny sentence, every Harvey&John scene, every ship, every bad guy and even every weapon (Winona!). The show is so funny and angst and beautiful and original and EVERY ADJECTIVE YOU WANNA USE that it has become one of my fav shows, and John and Aeryn are not only one of the best couples I've ever seen, but also some of my fav characters EVER.
And now I'm sad. Sad 'cause now I have no more Farscape. No more Aeryn Sun, soldier and peacekeeper. No more John Crichton, the lunatic astronaut. No more Zhaan. No more Ka D'Argo. No more Rygel. No more Chiana. But it was a wonderful travel, I've cried A LOT, and I've laughed even more. I've suspected (lots of times) that the screenwriters were crazy, and wondered how could they be so great even when they go crazy.
So yeah, I'm in love with you, show, and I'm gonna miss you sooooo much. *cries*
And now, I'm gonna cry a bit more, rewatch episode 1.01 and try to download the frelling photoshop so I can make the SPREAD THE WORLD piscpam about Farscape I promised.
(In case you're asking yourself, yes, I'm gonna do another stupid post like that about BSG).
(And, BTW,
WATCH FARSCAPE, YOU PEOPLE!).
