Some cats don't mind water or it could be as you say trust. My first cat we could give a bath even though he didn't like it. The cat I have now though... I wouldn't dare. She won't even give my fish tank a second glance and freaks out if we try to show her the tank.

She was really dirty from the dirt, soil and soot she likes to travel through while outside.

She also gets into fights with stray cats and it could help to keep her clean.

I wanted her to get accustomed to water so i could keep her cool for when it is really hot in the summer.
