I don't know about the surplus part, but that sounds about right. In the same shopping center as the Pizza Hut, and across the road from Blue Ridge Comics?

I've eaten jellyfish, at a chinese restaurant in NoVa. It has the consistency of rubber bands and tastes like whatever you cook it in. FWIW, green onion sauce isn't a good choice.

That doesn't surprise me much, they seem like they'd just be thin layers of some sort of protein, and would get very chewy when cooked very quickly.

I loved pulling up there and seeing a Mennonite buggy parked outside with a dreamcatcher hanging between the front seats.

It is sharp shopper, the store is still there and that horse and buggy with the dreamcatcher has often made me scratch my head. My fave is the one with the OBX sticker on the back of it though.
There is also the cheese place in the shenandoah farmers market and there is another in dayton. I can't walk out of those two places for less than fifty bucks, on my kitchen counter I have cous cous, red rice, a lot of cumin and goodness knows what else from there.
