Hey, you have company - I heard that song done by "Dexter Freebish" and loved it, and when I tried to find it on Google I found out like EVERYBODY has remade it! Lots of sites I found seem to credit it to the Beatles, but I can't find anything definite yet... but it was definitely done way before Wham/George Michael re-did it.
I'll keep looking - glad somebody else is confused, too... somehow that makes me feel better! (Have you seen anything that actually gives the name of who wrote the lyrics OR music?? I haven't! Weird, huh?)

Well, whoever it is, the Beatles never did this song. I found links to Beatles discographies, INCLUDING their yearly Christmas mini-album for fans, and nowhere are they listed as having done this song.
I actually *have* found many sites that list Wham! and/or George Michael as the writers, but I wouldn't believe most of those sites. I have also found this Wikipedia page about "Last Christmas" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Christmas) which I *DO* tend to believe. It has the history of the song, and it also states that George Michael wrote it, and I do tend to believe that page.
Also, the version that is often mistaken for the Beatles version is listed in the link that I have in my original post. You should take a look at that page for information about the song, too.
Okay, I hope you actually get to read this so you don't continue your fruitless search.

Thanks - didn't get to read your response till Monday morning, AFTER I'd just found an original BBC review from 1984 definitely crediting the song to George... oh well... Kinda wish I woulda read yours earlier and saved some time on my "fruitless search" (yeah, I looked at EVERY Beatles Album and Christmas song), but at least I got some backup evidence, and I can't say it wasn't fun digging around! I still like Dexter Freebish's version but I'm gonna try to find the Rubber Band version, too - thanks again! (and Merry Christmas...!)

Oooh I love Dexter Freebish. I shall have to find it or a clip and give it a listen
On an unrelated note, Sandra am I going to see you this Christmas? I vaguely recall something about it. Feel free to IM or email back a response if you'd rather.
I too found this cover and fell in love with it. I googled it as well because I knew it wasn't the Beatles. I stumbled onto your livejournal and now it is all clear! Thank you so much for the info!!! This is by far the best version of Last Christmas!!
