Rather than use the cat carrier, maybe you should get a larger crate so that the cat can still sort of be part of things, and maybe that would help your mom get used to it. If the cat really bothers your mom, maybe when your mom is home alone with the cat you can lock it up and then when you're home have it out. Also, if worst comes to worst, we used to lock our cat in the bathroom...he didn't really like it a whole lot, and it's sort of a pain, but I guess it works.

I'd say tell your mom she's going to have to help in some way, be it getting a motel room for herself, paying for the boarding, or dealing with being near a cat. I actually think the last choice is the least plausible; if she's scared of cats then she's scared of cats and two weeks probably won't change that.

Alternately, since we know cats are allowed in your building, maybe you could ask one of your neighbors if Molly could move in for a little while?

I say option 1. Cat and mom will find a status quo; what it is will be interesting. I've lived with two kittens --> cats before and they are curious creatures and will sniff around. But they do learn who hates them and who likes them and adjust accordingly. But then again, all cats are different. [Serena]

Actually the best way is to send me the cat for the duration, plus I have unlimited live food for your cat while solving my problems. Since you probably won't go for that, the best alternativeis to feed the cat with unharmful doses of sleep pills and let her sleep through your mommy's stay. Alternatively, you can tied her to a long leash. Wang the wisest computer in the world.
