April 12 seems so far away, but 14 days down and 33 days to go ... technically. I might stick to just 40 days, but who knows. So far I've put myself in a variety of situations where otherwise I thought my temptation would get the better of me and have succeeded. Hang in there, Ant. You can do this. I think saving up those Sundays to use on the Friday and Saturday of the camping trip are a great idea. God won't mind.

I've noted similar in my on-and-off abstinence, since last August.

There are some situations that are just no longer entertaining, and some people I simply don't see.

That said, I've definitely been having more meaningful conversations - especially since we've been back from the wedding. And, I feel like I'm more *me* because I'm not over- or under-correcting for the effects of tipsiness.

I think you'll come out on the other side of this with a lot of new understanding and clarity, and I'll certainly be praying a little bit extra for you during these forty days.

One of my favorite people told me once that Muslims always observe a "fast from the fast" (called an "ifta") during Ramadan as a way to keep from resenting the fast. I think the camping trip would be a good ifta :).
