Jun 18, 2003 16:26

So this marks my entrance into the interview meme. The way it works is this: beyond this cut is a transcript of a five-question interview posed to me by queen_of_wands with my responses interleaved. Anyone else who wants to interview me can post his or her five-question interview in the comments section of this post. If you would like to be interviewed, let ( Read more... )

Me too! And I'll try to think of some good questions while I'm at it.

Why am I suddenly reminded of Hot Seat?

As an undergraduate you were a Medieval Studies major, but the last time we spoke you said that you were going to apply to grad programs in Anthropology. Do you see this as a major shift in focus, or do you feel that there is continuity between your two degrees?

What the hell are you going to do with an Anthropology degree anyway? Shouldn’t you be studying something more practical like Dentistry?

Now that Buffy has died a merciful death, it’s time to get all nostalgic: what will you miss most about the show that made it okay to watch TV again?

After being bitten by a radioactive vampire bat in the Bathroom at ManRay you find that you have developed goth-related superpowers. What are your powers, and how do you use them?

When are you, latemodel, and I going to go to Charlie’s for cheap beer?

1. In a postapocalyptic future the Republican-run Congress has banned all forms of artistic production. In order to fund your underground art commune you need to get a day job. What do you do?

2. What five works (books, articles, whatever) of criticism would you recommend to someone who is interested in learning how to develop a sophisticated approach to film?

3. What sort of fanfic would you write if you were a fanfic writer?

4. Many people may not know that you are planning to apply to graduate programs in multimedia labs. Well, you are. What media are you most excited to work in?

5. Why is David Lynch so good? Don’t you just want to love him to death?

1) So, I know about lifestyle and academic changes that you're looking forward to in Berkeley, but what are some of thie things about the locale itself that you are looking forward to? How about not looking forward to?

2) Which Buffy character that wasn't in the 7th season do you wish had made a return towards the end? Why?

3) What field that is completely unrelated to yours would you want to be in (this is presuming that you made the decision awhile ago and have trained for that)? Why?

4) Satan/Darth Vader/G.W. Bush is trying to lure you to his/her side. What does he offer you to seduce you to the dark side?

5) You are starting a band. What instrument would you want to magically know how to play? What other instruments are in your band? Who are your influences (ie, what is the sound you're striving for?)

1. Even though you are one of the people that I would have least expected to move to the south, you somehow ended up in Virginia. In what ways have you been pleasantly surprised by VA? In what ways were you markedly disappointed?

2. What is your favorite Buffy episode that was not written and directed by Joss Whedon? Which is your least favorite?

3. Now that that metal contraption has been removed from your back, how do you feel about it hanging around the house? Do you ever get creeped out thinking about the fact that that used to be inside of you? What are you going to do with it?

4. Due to an unexpected inheritance and a number of corporate mergers, you find that you now control the rights to all of television. What old TV shows do you release on DVD?

5. Do you forgive me for being such a shitty correspondent? Will you come visit me in California?
