My tax affairs are not complicated. All my income is PAYE, I receive no interest from investments (thanks to an offset mortgage). I have a few P11D expenses, and a few charity payments: both just breaking into the 3-figure range. Sadly you do get surgeons removing the wrong kidney, pilots landing at the wrong airport and even trains going to the wrong station.

But in all those cases there are consequences for the people who get it wrong. That is not so for the tax authorities it seems.
