are there any small shops like that in pittsburgh? i've found that applying to big retailers such as target, borders, best buy, etc. is hard because they get so many applications around this time. my advice would be to find a shopping center around where you live and see if any of them have hiring signs up. just tonight i went to the gap not too far from my house and walked around the shopping center. i passed two places that were hiring which really surprised me, and i wished that you lived here!

i'm surprised that finding a job has been easy for me. i thought that after quitting mid-shift and walking out of petsmart, it would take a while for me to find another job. but keep trying!

this is random, but dave sedaris is coming to a borders near my house next week. i just glanced at a flyer in the store and saw his name, and it made me think of you (again).

Yeah, of course there are. I tried to apply to a small gift shop in the mall on Monday, but they had run out of applications and told me to come back next week. And there was a girl behind me in line who asked the same question and got the same answer, so I know that I wasn't told that because I was being judged or something. But I'll try walking around a shopping center after I come back from Rhode Island, because it would be pointless to apply to places the week before I leave for vacation.

Aww, David Sedaris! You would probably like his books if you haven't read them. I would love to see him do a reading/signing at a bookstore.
