When I lived in Florida, my family home was situated on a barrier island less than a mile across. If the wind blew in from the east across the Atlantic Ocean with a drizzle, the air had a salty tang; if a strong wind came from the west over the Banana River with rain, it brought the scent of dead fish. I find that the air is alot fresher after a good thunderstorm. It is like cleaning your lugholes out.

I love that feel in the air after a storm. The smell, too. I live in the southeast now (er, again) and sometimes flash summer storms only make things muggier. That's not how this is supposed to go, NATURE.

I used to sneak out onto our front porch during a good thunder storm. My dad would eventually realize I'd skipped and drag me back inside. Now I sit in my sunroom and watch the lightning hit the mountain behind my house. I adore storms.

I would love a proper sunroom for just such a purpose. We have a sunporch and I do sit out there sometimes with the cat during a storm, but it's small and cramped and not really suitable for lounging. I end up sitting on the ground beside the lawn mower.
