It's great to have family be non-judgemental about stuff when you need them to be.

Yes! They really took me by surprise. It's easy to forget how sympathetic my mother and sister can be, because they're the quiet minority.

My dad and (increasingly) my brother are much less so, so we'll see, as far as they're concerned...I still haven't said anything to them and I probably won't bother. I don't talk to either of them especially often.

That's awesome :)

Now that my divorce is final, I wonder if I'll tell my parents about the relationships I'm in. I want to talk about my partners. I don't want to lie to my parents about my living situation. But I think they're just a little too traditional for this to fly.

Everyone in my generation of the family (and everyone else in my life, for that matter) knows I'm poly. Some treat me like it's this childish phase I'm in, but most are cool. The most challenging is my cousin Allan, though (you've probably seen him commenting on my FB -- we're super close). He's incredibly liberal, but for some reason he takes personal offense at the idea of non-monogamy, and really can't fucking handle it. He's going to meet Dan next week at Falcon Ridge -- I'm hoping it'll be cool and not super uncomfortable.

Anyway...vent over.

Your mom is so cute :)

yay family!

on another note, I didn't realize I had an lj friend in Evansville! Our company is doing a big project with a customer based out of Evansville and everyone we've talked to from there is SUPER nice!

I spent seven years of my childhood there. I have a lot of loved ones still living there, but I'm currently in North Carolina. Evansville is really nothing out of the ordinary, but it holds a big claim on my heart and I love a visit there.
