You know, it's funny you mention that, because I actually feel like DC is doing the exact OPPOSITE of Marvel. Instead of adding characters, they're taking characters away. To me, what Marvel is doing is trying to throw as many new things out there as possible to catch the wider audience they're bringing in with the movies, whereas I think DC is responding to that by trying to appeal to the classic comic book demographic. And the overall result of that is that I can't find enough energy to care about DC.
I will say, after Damien's death, Red Hood and the Outlaws has gotten CONSIDERABLY better, which I'm happy about.
What I meant by the Marvel comparison is that DC is trying to imitate the things about the Marvel universe they think are selling well, like the civillian population being less trusting of superhumans (DC used to be the universe that had things like a Flash musuem). Marvel is better at the moment because of their characters and stories like you mentioned.
I heard that and I'd like to read it, Jason is my favorite Robin, but I just hit burnout with DC for the moment.
Aha I heard about the John Stewart thing and it's just. Wow. I've been staying away from DC since the reboot started (I don't have it in me to embrace the new continuity), but if I hadn't Damian definitely would've been the last straw. To me that decision just seems so pointlessly cruel, both in-universe and towards the readers.
