STRESS STRESS.

So, due to being done school in November, and Nick Graduating in January, we decided to hold off on buying a house. Just talking to the mortgage broker wanted me to start banging my head against a wall. Plus, the houses in our money range, were kinda....ugly looking. Houses are insanely expensive now. You can't even get a single home, 2 bedrooms, ( Read more... )

My life...

I moved to Cleveland, Ohio, which technically is located in the "mid-west". yay. School is good here, but the city is no Philly. Housing is cheap, though! If you were looking for houses in the Ohio market I'm sure there'd be plenty to choose from! But seriously, being on the East coast is much better than living in the mid-west.

Hang in there, school will be so worth it when you're done.

I don't think I would ever be able to move to another state! I would miss my family too much. How is it? What are you up to? Thanks for giving me something to read at work. Take care!

Yeah, it is scary the first time, moving out of state.. But after being in PA for a while, I always want to leave. After high school I moved to Boston, and later to San Diego, Cali. Cleveland is alright - I live with my boyfriend, Brian, who's a great guy. Our apartment is fantastic w/ hardwood floors, granite countertops etc. It's a great place. Cleveland itself isn't that different from home.. It has run-down parts just like Phila does, and the downtown is WAY smaller, but I like it just fine. I go to Case Western University, which is good. There are a lot of nice ppl there.

I do miss my family, but not that much. I have a pretty small family, and my brother is in California anyway, so he's always so far away.

What are you up to? What are you going to school for?

same thing goes for the real estate market here in georgia. $300K will get you a beautiful, 3+ bedroom rancher in decatur.

Hang in there Suzie! You are one of the strongest people I know, and with someone amazing to support you, you will get what you want.

I live in Philadelphia with Paul, my partner of two years. I am working for an oil distributor managing their ethanol fuel program. I enjoy it. Paul has graduated from Drexel and landed a job with the company he interned with during school. He loves it there as well. We would also like to buy a house, but not within the next year or so. In 5 months, we will be moving again to another apartment that is better than the place where we are now, and getting a puppy. Sometimes I feel like I cheated the who system by not getting a degree and still having a decent job. Despite that, I plan on going back to school part time for environmental studies. We are complete hippies, it's ridiculous. Not everything is perfect right now, but we are happy, and we have a lot of great things to look forward to.

Good luck with your life! We should go to dinner sometime. We are always eating out, there is so much in the

Wow. That is amazing that you landed that job...and actually like it!!! Haha. Yeah. I would like to move to the city, but again...I want to be near my family, simply because I want to have a baby...I'm so domestic and I don't know where it came from. So how are you? How is everything else going?? Thanks for giving me something to read. Reasearching activites for kids to stay off drugs is so boring...all the approved materials are sooo outdated...I don't have much to work with!! This is a challenge.

i don't know if either of you would be interested in living a city, but you should look in philly for houses. granted, they will be town/rowhomes but there are a lot of areas where you can get them pretty cheap that are still nice and are very accessible.

we have also been talking about buying a house... but right now it is a matter of saving up enough money for a down payment. my job treats me well but i am constantly covering rus's ass for rent and bills so my savings are small. i am also torn by the idea of moving far away for a while (or maybe forever) which makes me hesitant to buy anything that will force me to stick around.

anyway, good luck to you. hope everything works out for the best.

saving up money?!?! ha wakeuplilsuzie September 20 2006, 19:20:43 UTC
I just learned this myself, but you don't need to save up money...there is a program for 1st time home owners and also something called a seller's assist...where they actually pay your taxes and down payments and just add it on your mortgage and then you just pay it off monthy. It's crazy...and Real Estate is at a low right now. So, Usually if you make an offer they'll take it...and your credit just has to be over a 400...

How soon is now? wakeuptime September 16 2006, 23:31:35 UTC
Ya know, there's a lot of nice suburbany feeling places in Northeast Philadelphia. Perfectly nice neighborhoods like Mayfair have homes that are around $130,000 when you're ready to start looking again.

I want to buy something myself, but it's going to be next to impossible considering where I want to live and the possibility of more schooling that'll keep me in plenty of debt for the foreseeable future.

Otherwise though I'm enjoying where I'm living. Stuff with Ryan is pretty awesome. He is tall and thin. We spend a lot of time cooking and drinking. Still working in Doylestown. I'm usually in a rush. That is all. If you ever come down to South Street, let me know. We can hang out.

It's hard because we all work such oddball schedules. I go to school all day Saturday and lately I've been working 5 days a week plus Sunday. It's like being spontaneous isn't really an option for me anymore, haha. Amanda works an even weirder schedule, though she's usually off on Wednesdays.

I am in Doylestown pretty late sometimes, maybe coffee could be done sometime in bucks County. I miss everyone too!
