Mission Report 003

[written]My initially attempt at acquiring data on magic have yielded little results. The most I could gauge was that people who can use magic are reluctant to share for unknown reasons; either the penalty for using magic is too much to waste on a demonstration, or their magic acts as their trump card and they do not wish to reveal their abilities ( Read more... )

The ability to use this Filial magic is something that varies, depending on who wants to use it. It is my belief that it will be easier to get a grip on it if you've had previous experiences with magic, or something similar. Also, it might depend on your personality and determination. To be able to use Filial magic, you need to contact the respective elemental 'spirit'. Usually, these spirits will mock you. They need to deem you 'worthy', I suppose.

[[OOC: I wasn't really around for the big "OMG magic" revelation, so I might've gotten some facts wrong. ^^']]

I was unaware of Filial magic; the kind I was specifying was magic people already had access to from their own home world. However, I was rather broad with my request, so either would have sufficed.

Is there anything more you can tell me about Filial magic, specifically the different elemental 'spirits' and how to contact them?

I'm afraid that all original magic has been nullified to such a level that it simply isn't relevant anymore. Of course, researching it would be an interesting thing to do, but I am unsure how to put the results to good use.

Not much is known about the spirits that control Filial magic. Simply that they exist. In fact, I am not even certain how many different spirits there are. However, they can be contacted if one concentrates hard enough.

That is unfortunate, but also explains further why I received such little interest. I was more interested in the process of constructing a database on the magics of different worlds and comparing them than finding a use for it; someone else more qualified would have, no doubt, made something of it.

I will look further into this. Thank you for providing what information you could.

There are people who can use magic around here? That's brilliant!

Apparently so.

That's amazing! I've got to see about meeting some of those people. I'd love to ask them about it!

I warn you, on average they aren't very forthcoming about their abilities. But you may have better luck.

I'm a little glad their aren't guns around. I can't imagine the damage it would cause here.

While that is a good point, considering there are people here with access to supernatural abilities, the raise in potential damage by introducing guns would be hardly noticeable. The benefits would clearly justify any drawbacks.

But considering some of the experiments...

If we are armed, perhaps we can better defend ourselves from the Malnosso.

You have been busy with research.

There isn't much else to do.

Oh? I've been finding plenty to do. You should join me when you aren't busy with your research!

If you insist. What kind of activities have you been participating in?

Sorry ya haven't had better luck. I know ya wanted ta check out what other people could do. Ya could try runnin' around listenin' for people fightin'. Happens from time ta time and ya might catch 'em doin' somethin'.

I miss tech too. I'd kill for a vid game or even some movies. And a music player. So many things ta keep me from gettin' so bored. Ya'd ya think I opened the pizza place? The random stuff's kinda fun though. Never know what you're gunna find. I'd feel better myself with my gun, but what can ya do? Just have ta learn ta be happy with knives and homemade explosives.

(ooc: Please don't ask me to explain the explosives. I've got no idea how to make any beyond some basics.)

I have not been here long, so expecting results in such a short time was overly ambitious of me. Despite how pessimistic that advice is, I believe that is my best choice of action; I myself would rather not participate in the fights, but observing them from a distance will have to do for now.

It is hard to find something to occupy my time with when all the things I am adept at are missing. If I somehow stumble upon any technology, I will mention it to you. There may be things I have no use for that you might, and vice versa.
I'm not as good with knives, but it wouldn't do to stay unarmed. Where did you find yours?

((OOC: All it takes is baking soda and vinegar, DUH ;P ))

That's not pessimistic. People are pissed 'bout bein' here and they can't take it out on the Malnosso. Ya can help damage control. Make sure no one else gets hurt while you're watchin'.

Ya can find somethin' new ya can do. I love pizza so I figured out how ta make it. Thanks for that. I might be able ta tinker somethin' outta what ya find. I'll let ya know if I find any rations or nutro bars. Anythin' that's barely edible, but good for ya. Store with cookin' supplies. They're not the best quality and the balance is off, but they're decent. Tooke me a while ta put a good edge on 'em too.

(ooc: Bottle of Coke, Mentos, lid. Hehe.)

I am not allowed to intervene without direct orders from my superiors. Considering the very low probability that they are still alive and my current situation, I wonder if that protocol is even still valid.

Something new? I cannot think outside out what I was trained for; if you have any suggestions, I would appreciate it.
My knowledge is more focused on software than hardware, so I believe we can help each other in that aspect. You said you worked as a mechanic, correct?
