Not to be overly romantic/idealistic, but if you loved that job/those people/that place so much, why not go back? I mean, there's most likely a pay difference and the whole family/political thing, but if that job really made a big difference in whether you went home happy or "not exactly" ... why not? Do what you love. Success is relative.
the place is no longer owned by the same people. they had to sell because don is sick. (dying, actually) so it's not the same place, or i would consider it.
