Here's a fic I did for a prompt over at cookstro. ♥ Cross posted, obviously.

Title: Happy Birthday
Author: Kitty
Pairing: Jason Castro/David Cook
Rating: I can't see it being anything more than PG-15, if that
Disclaimer: I own them in my dreams. Not a real event (I think).
Prompt: Cupcake
Summary: David makes a birthday surprise for Jason. =]
Author's Notes: This is my first AI fic ever, I hope you enjoy it. My writing's a little rusty right now. I hope everyone's IC. 837 words.

David glanced swiftly at the clock as he rushed around the kitchen. He had 10 more minutes to make everything perfect, and he wasn't quite sure if it was enough time.

Thankfully, 15 minutes later, when there was a knock at the door, he was ready. He walked over to the door, and opened it wide, smiling brightly, and stepping aside for his roommate to enter.

Jason stepped into the room and looked around, stunned. Their typically dull flat was vibrantly decorated with banners and balloons reading "Happy Birthday".

David closed the door and walked over to Jason, "Happy birthday, Jase," he murmured into his ear.

A smile slowly slid across his face, and he turned around to hug David. "Thanks, man."

David stayed in Jason's embrace for a long moment, before finally pulling free. He took the other boy by the hand and led him over to the table, which was already set.

"You made me dinner?", he asked, amused.

"Mmhmm," David purred, a soft blush tinting his cheeks, as he pulled out Jason's chair.

He sat down, and waited for David to join him before starting to eat.

"I'll warn you, now," David said as he sat down, "I'm hardly the world's best cook, but I think it's edible."

I think you're the world's best Cook Jason thought to himself, and smiled. "As long as you're not trying to poison me so that I can't sing tonight," he joked, preparing to take his first bite.

David gave him a look of mock-horror, "I would never.." He laughed, watching Jason's hesitance, "Oh, c'mon, I wouldn't kill you, you're too cute."

It was Jason's turn to blush, and because he couldn't think of a comeback he took his first bite.

David watched hopefully, and smiled when he went for another bite.

"I'll tell you this much, you're a better cook than I am."

They ate the rest of the meal in relative silence, David spending most of his time watching Jason, and Jason eating intently. When Jason had finished eating, David cleared the table.

"Wait here," he murmered before Jason could stand.

Jason obeyed, and waited for David's return. The lights dimmed slightly, and David's voice met his ears. He blushed as he realized what David was singing.

He set a cupcake with blue icing on the table, in front of Jason. A single blue candle was sticking out of it, it's flame flickering softly, sending graceful shadows over his face.

"Make a wish."

Jason smiled serenely, closing his eyes. He paused for a moment before blowing out the candle.

David turned the lights back on, and returned with another cupcake, for himself. "So, what did you wish for?

"You know I can't tell you that."

"I know," he ran his finger around the edge of the cupcake, collecting icing on it, so that he could lick it off, which he then did.

Jason had taken the candle out of his treat, and was now peeling off the paper. "Then why ask?"

"Just wondering if my Idol spot was in danger because of a birthday wish," he laughed. He glanced down at his cupcake, remembering how he'd picked the blue so that it would match Jason's eyes.

Jason swallowed his first taste of the cake. "Well, if rocking out fails you, you could always have a future as a baker."

David smirked, "That good, eh?"

"Yup."

David ate his cupcake in silence, before nodding, "Mm, you might be right."

Jason had finished his as well, "Don't let it go to your head." He glanced at the clock, "We'd better go."

David glanced at the clock, as well. "You're right." He stood, "Let's go kick some musical ass!"

Jason chuckled, and stood as well. He cast another look around, "Thanks, again, David. This was great."

"No problem, kid," he paused, "I suppose I can't call you that anymore, can I?" He approached him casually.

He thought for a long moment, "You can. But only you."

"Deal." David smiled, "Hey, kid?"

"Yea?", Jason asked, smirking.

"You've got icing on your face." He giggled lightly.

Jason wiped at his face gently.

"Still there. Here." He leaned in closely, wiping the speck away from the corner of Jason's mouth. He paused like that for a long moment, his hand resting lightly on Jason's cheek. Slowly, he closed the gab between them, pressing his lips against Jason's, first slowly, then a bit more roughly. He eventually broke the kiss, and opened the door for them to exit.

Jason was still for a moment, his goofy smile spreading across his face. He left, thinking that, perhaps, birthday wishes could come true.

David shut the door behind them, deciding that he liked cupcakes more than he had when he'd woken that morning.

Enjoy, bbs.
