Author's Notes: A submission for the twelfth cassidyfanworks drabble prompt (smoke). Cut lyrics are from the intro track for Cassidy's upcoming album 'The Fool' as taken from when he performed the song on ustream. The exact title is, as of yet, unannouced, but I recall hearing Journey Begins and The Fool's Journey tossed around, along with some others I don't remember. :)
The smoke pours in from under the curtain once it starts rising, and Cassidy takes a careful breath. This is it - his moment, his make-it or break-it. He’s seconds away from opening his first national tour and he needs to sell this - sell himself. He has the talent - he just needs the world to see it.
His body is partially hidden in smoke and shadows as he lifts the mic to his mouth. The floor lights turn on, illuminating his form as he sings the opening lines to Journey Begins, his voice more haunting than ever. This is his time.
