Clash sequel?!

So I know I went on a bender not so long about the epic failing that was the Clash of the Titans remake. Well, I'm certain that I'll be going on another one in three....two...one....

THERE'S GOING TO BE A SEQUEL TO THIS PIECE OF SHIT?!?!?!?!

Not only that, gentle readers, oh no! Louis Leterrier, the remake's director, has said that it is going to be a trilogy. Honestly, I don't know a single person who enjoyed the piece of shit, let alone anyone dying for a sequel, but, regardless, the film grossed $454,296,351. That's a lot of dough so I guess Hollywood, in all its genius, has decided to milk this cash cow for all it's worth. Which, obviously, in my own personal opinion, it's much.

There's no set plot but, from all the various articles I've read -- after I heard about this travesity, I surfed the web endlessly for answers -- the first sequel will be released sometime in Spring 2012. The year the world is supposed to end, how appropriate. The plot is unclear, but it will involved "ancient superheroes". Wow, that just makes it all so much better! NOT! Perseus will be involved in some way or another, which means that we must all suffer Sam Worthington's "acting" once again. Not only in this, but in the Avatar sequel. Really, has the world no taste anymore?

Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern) will be writing the unknown story, and Warner Brothers is seeking writers and directors who may be willing to work under the studio's unique time constraints. One saving grace is that Leterrier won't be directing the so-called sequel. Sadly, we aren't rid of him entirely. He'll remain involved as Executive Producer. Deadline has said that Leterrier's exit is "harmonious," attributing it to the fact that he wasn't ready to rush into another installment of CGI-fueled silliness. If the director isn't into making a sequel, shouldn't that tell you something? But the main critical reception and the poor ratings on Rotten Tomatoes clearly doesn't count for much, as long as the big wigs' pockets continue to be lined and even more money is waste. Call me naive to think they even care, if you wish. (Please, note the sarcasm)

The only thing that could make me even consider seeing this, if it does indeed happen -- fingers crossed it doesn't! -- if it Io is dead and gone and Andromeda takes her rightful place as Perseus' wife.
