Do you have a humidifier? I use one and it helps with dry sinuses. I don't see why dry skin shouldn't be the same.

If you need ultra-protection, Aquaphor ointment is great. Soothing and not irritating at all.

I don't have a humidifier, but that is an excellent suggestion! I will look into setting one up at the new place. I've heard good things about Aquaphor but never tried it. Thank you!

Agreed: belonging to a fight club would be so much more interesting than chronically dry skin.

and so much more satisfying! i mean, if you're hands are going to be sore and red and bloody all the time anyway, you might as well be getting rid of some pent up stress and anger and anxiety at the same time. uhm. not that i've thought about it or anything. ANYWAY, hey, good luck with the moisture gloves!

Ahahha yes. I think his exact words, as related by my mother, were "do you think she's been hitting a punching bag?" and the response that sprang to mind was, "no, I have been punching FACES." Not that *I've* thought about it or anything. *cough*

I have terribly dry skin in the winter - I wear gloves outside from October through April, pretty much! - and the best lotion I've found is Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. I usually have one in my purse, one at work, and a few floating around my apartment. I have nightmares about it going off the market and having to hoard cases of the stuff! I often react to the perfumes and stuff in most lotions, and find the texture of them useless when my hands get super dry, but the Neutrogena Hand Cream pretty much always works for me. I used to have terrible eczema on my hands, which was exacerbated by dry skin, and regularly using this stuff has almost cured it.

I had to sleep with gloves on in the past, and I think it did help, but it was a while ago so I can't remember the specifics. Sorry I can't be more helpful! I hope it works quickly for you.

And congrats on getting your new place!

Excellent, thank you for the recommendation! Ugh, it's so distressing when they're so dry for so long, I'm glad you found something that works for you. I think the gloves at night have been helping a lot. I also switched to Curel's most intensive lotion (as advertised annyway), and I find it a lot richer and a little more pleasant than the Aveeno I've been using for a while.

Thank you! I am very excited about it! :D
