[When the video clicks on, the view is entirely obscured by something over the lens, with only a faint glow of sunlight around the edges. It does, however, pick up the sound of someone moving, shifting around like they’re just waking up]

Unnnng… Silver, what the hell did you let me drink?

[There is the sound of shifting around, and the thing ( Read more... )

[And now he's eying his device like it might be a poisonous animal]

Pardon me? I was not aware this was some sort of... communication device?

Who are you? And what is that infernal racket?

PCD? Fascinating...

Ray. I'd say a pleasure, but... You mentioned our jailers?

[Nooo... it's been about half an hour, tops. Plus or minus the whole unconscious thing]

[And it's not the reception he'd expect at the moment. So he'll play it guarded for now]

Indeed Monsieur Duroc.

It is not Hell, sir. This place is called Adstringendum. Although, there is one here who offers protection from the Devil himself, should you wish it.

[She looks at him with a slight bit of pity.]

You'd had a companion? Perhaps that person will be nearby. More likely you have been separated by the Animus who bring us and trap us here.

[And you know what music's in the background here.]

[A woman? Whomever is responsible has kidnapped women as well? Ray is properly offended on your behalf. Offended enough that he's not really paying attention to the first bit of what you're saying]

Mademoiselle, all things considered, I'd prefer my... companion were not here. It might make things complicated.

Who are these Animus of which you speak? And how did they bring me here, much less a beautiful woman like yourself?

This place tends to complicate even the simplest of things. It is probably best that they are not here.

[Have a ghost of a smile at that compliment, and a quick turning of the eyes before she addresses him.]

The Animus are the odd things which brought us here, in addition to creating the music that surrounds some of us this week. As for how they have done so, I know not. But they keep us trapped here, and leave us to fend for ourselves.

It is my experience that places rarely complicate things. It's people who are responsible for the complications.

Things? The Animus is not a group of people? You're asking me to believe a story tale.

[Have a cute and endlessly unhelpful 5-year-old!]

Mister... If you hold the TV phone still, then we can see things better.

[And children too? Ray may not care much for children, but the idea of someone kidnapping them... But he does hold the PCD still while he looks at her with concern]

Mademoiselle, please tell me you have a parent or some sort of guardian here?

I do! I'm staying with a really nice lady named Juliet. She's really pretty and fun to be with! And her cousin lives there, too! He's...

[She sort of trails off a little.]

Well, his name is Tybalt!

[Well, that's good at least. Still, to kidnap a child, especially so young...]

I hope you are being a good little girl and doing as you're told then. This hardly seems a fit place for a child.

I wish I could say you get used to things here, but I don't think that's true.

Matsumoto Rangiku, it's a pleasure.

People are endlessly adaptable. One can get use to anything.

Ray. The pleasure in mine Madam Rangiku.
