[Congratulations Adstring, you're getting treated to a wet, shirtless Ray. He's rubbing a yellowish waxy substance into a length of fabric as he addresses the PCD]

Considering the rain, I'm sure some of you are dealing with flooding already. Or leaking. Let us all hope this rain lets up soon or there is going to be serious property damage.

[... for God's sake, man, put on some clothes. >_> Jean Louis is giving him a look of obvious irritation. He's also completely soaked.]

A few more days and the entire place will be flooded.

[No thank you. He has nothing dry at the moment. Be glad he's wearing pants]

Oh I doubt the whole place will flood. Everything near the river and lake, sure.

There are no efficient draining systems in the city.

[Runs a hand through his hair because it's all over the place. And as for the pants, he's mind isn't even going there, thanks.]

Mireille and I are moving away from the river.

Even if their were, this rain would overwhelm them.

[A beat, and then a thought]

Set up rain barrels. After this, I wouldn't trust the river water.

Wise idea.

[Oh, my. More naked torsos. Although, Juliet can understand why in this circumstance. She herself is not quite as water-logged as she's been in days past, since they've managed to (mostly) plug the holes in the ceiling.]

That is sound advice, Ray. All of it. I shall keep it in mind.

You are all right where you are? And Argent as well?

[She bites her lip, hesitant about her next question.]

Do you know how to swim?

[He gives her a smile, glad to see she's still fine]

I am fine so far. We will see what the next few days hold. And I can swim well enough.

And you Mademoiselle? You are surviving so far?

That is good. We are surviving, yes. The water creeps closer to the door, but it has not yet come in. And I have managed to secure most of the cloth and wool from the water. There is some that will need to be disposed of when the rain stops, but not as much as I had feared.

Can you swim well enough to teach the skill to another? It is only - Lord Saxon suggested it might prove a useful skill to have, and I know not how to swim at all.

Keep dry as much as possible. I would hate to see you catch a chill.

I probably could, but not in this weather. Waters are too turbid.

I have little doubt of that. Hence, preparations.

I just hauled mine out into the wastelands. Easier than trying to dispose of it in the city, and if it doesn't wash away, it might end up serving as bait when I can go hunting again.

[Van Helsing holds up a skewered rabbit, and smirks.] I'll share in return for your earlier kindness. As long as you don't mind it rare.

[He raises a slow eyebrow, then picks up his PCD and angles it to show a good week's worth of smoked meat hanging from the ceiling. ]

Plus the stuff I have in my icebox. The offer is... appreciated, but not needed.

Suit yourself. [He's almost impressed by that collection, but--] You didn't catch that yourself, did you?

Of course I did. When flooding's not washing everything away, I have a trap line set up, and a smokehouse out back.

Well, the mutton sort of came easy two weeks ago. We got inundated with rainbow sheep.

[A soft snort.] Wonderful indeed.

Do you still have enough food to last until the end of the week?

The Animus are just bundles of joy, no?

And more, assuming the house doesn't get washed away. But I suppose if that happens I have bigger problems.

And you? You are... surviving?

And creative in their own twisted way.

[A soft chuckle.] Definitely. Hopefully it won't get that bad.

Oh, yes. It's a little be more difficult for me to get accross the city. Pouring rain tends to slow me down. [A small smirk.] Fortunately my cloak is waterproof.

How's Argent?

We can but hope.

Pouring rain slows everything down. But it's good you're keeping dry.

[At mention of his name, the brown firelizard peeks over the edge of the table from where he's been hiding in Ray's lap. But then there's a roll of thunder and the brown disappears]
It would seem he's afraid of thunder.
