How very touching and sad. Jess suffering from survivor's guilt and you wrote it perfectly. His last run, this time without Leslie memories pushing him on. The reader aches with him as he remembers and suffers with him as he shoulders the blame. I love the manner in which you finished it. It was lovely.

Well written.

This is one of the saddest books I remember reading in grade school - even thinking about it now makes me tear up a little! You did a really great job capturing Jesse's sadness and his guilt. I love his memories of Leslie, and how it's not just about the two of them, but about her as an individual, and her with others. He really cared about her, not just their relationship and the freedom she brought him. ;_;

Really lovely piece!
