I admit that trying to justify his actions takes something away from Hannibal Lector. In some ways, I wish Thomas Harris had never written Hannibal Rising, and in a multitude of other ways I'm glad he did.
Okay, I'm really only glad because they made a movie out of it and young Hannibal is attractive. It adds something to my opinion of the book to be able to picture young Hannibal as [insert whatever the actor's name is here]. The movie also is a lot more angsty and romantic than the book, which I, of course, appreciate.
