[For Alcuin] Post-Truth or Dare

Crass though it may be, as Wallace leaves the party with Alcuin under the auspices of getting a drink together someplace quieter, he's really only got one objective in mind. Don't misunderstand: From what little he knows of Alcuin, he likes him, even if he isn't precisely Wallace's type. But Wallace hasn't been laid since he showed up on this ( Read more... )

"Very long," Alcuin said, tilting his head to look at Wallace as they walked. "Nearly four and a half years. Long enough to see a lot of people come and go."

He had no illusions about where he and Wallace might be going and what they might be doing when they get there. In truth though it had not been yet two months, he had been terribly lonely since Giles' disappearance. And he liked Wallace as well, though he was not Alcuin's usual type either - in fact, this made him think back a very long time, to near when he'd first arrived on the island, and left a party similar to this one with a boy close to his own age. In fact, Logan Echolls was still one of very few men he had slept with who were not considerably older than him.

"I keep waiting for everything to stop feeling like a dream," Wallace admits, although he knows that sort of thing isn't like flipping a switch. One day he'll wake up, and this place will be normal. For now, though, he can't help but feel a little lost in a place where Superboy chooses to kiss him and he leaves parties with boys as pretty as Alcuin.

"Strangely enough, I still feel that way sometimes," Alcuin said with a little smile. He looked back ahead of them and added, "My home isn't far from here... well, though I haven't been living there, recently. I've, ah, never lived alone before, and suddenly I found myself so and did not really care for it. Too quiet. So I've been staying with friends, though I imagine at some point I will need to get over it and move back."

It could be that Wallace is reading this all wrong, but all things considered, he thinks he's justified in thinking Alcuin is essentially inviting him back to his place. Why else would he mention it when they started this conversation whispering sexy nothings in each other's ears?

"I've never been in one of the huts," he conveniently mentions, the corner of his mouth quirking. "I have a room to myself in the Compound, but it isn't very private."
