WTH??

I've just noticed that one of my fics has been published to some random site (that I certainly never gave my permission to!) Anyone have any idea how to stop this from happening again?

Not cool. Are they at least giving you credit and linking back to you?

Ja, they're linking it back here. Tbh, it's not so much the use of it that bothers me as the fact that they just went ahead and put it up without asking my permission. I probably would have been fine with it if they had.
But I don't want any old random site thinking they can just post my fics - it's not even in English, so I have no idea what the site is about - it could be promoting child pornography or some such thing for all I know! (Not that I think it is!)

Yeah, they should have been respectable enough to ask. Hopefully you'll get a ton of new readers out of it. *crosses fingers*

Did you email them and ask them to please ask next time?

Out of curiousity, how did you find out about it? I wouldn't even know where to look to see if anyone posted anything of mine.

I THINK I did - I found a place where I coulc send a message, and I left one there (but like I said, it was all in not-English - and not even in German or something which I could have figured out) so who knows whether it actually went to the appropriate person!

Hehe, it's kind of funny how I found out - I wanted to see if someone could find my FF.net stuff if they'd read my LJ stuff, so I googled my LJ name (to see if my FF.net name came up as an option) - and lo and behold!

LOL! I had this happen once AND they didn't even credit me!:-P But fortunately they did it to a number of writers in the fandom so they were reported enough times that it got taken down...

Ooh!! I think I remember that - I would have been so mad!! At least these guys linked it back to LJ, so I could get more readers out of it ;-) How did you report it, btw?
