i think the bible is a mix. i have a problem with people saying it is "the word of god" when it was written by men. men have tainted the word of god by inserting their personal beliefs. it must be taken with a grain of salt..NOT LITERALLY.
i totally get what you mean. i've been thinking/talking about it (and other things) all day.
yeah.. i mean i can see there being some truth in the bible- i won't get into my actual beliefs- but i think the bible is a very poor representation of the truth, if there is such thing. anyways, for various reasons, i basically think the bible should not be taken literally or even be used as a book to live your life by. it is too faulty and questionable and i see it as an impossibilty that a single condensed document could oulast years upon years of translation and still be a direct source of knowledge for something that is essentially intangible.
you are such a respectable person when it comes to this sort of thing. thank you.
i don't think it's a poor representation of the truth. and its contraversy and different interpretations keep it interesting..wanting you to find out more

my opinion: religion was created to make people feel good.what_a_travestyDecember 17 2004, 01:17:37 UTC
i can't take the bible for truth either. it was written by men, and men are fallible. i'm not gonna subscribe to something a bunch of guys wrote two thousand years ago, because no matter how good their intentions were, everyone wants to advertise their own personal beliefs. and frankly, i like my personal beliefs much better than theirs.
seems like the whole thing was contrived to establish some sort of moral code for the sake of maintaining an orderly society. and the bit about hell...well, people like the idea of justice, and they like to believe that others will eventually be punished for all their wrongdoings and shortcomings.
i do believe in a god or some sort of higher power, though. i can't imagine that life is an accident. it just seems too perfect and intricate to have happened haphazardly.
just because you don't believe it doesn't mean you should completely bash other people's beliefs. that's just as bad as those people you hate that try to convert people. except...meaner!
you just looove to bash everything i have to say. maybe if i was like. if you believe in the bible i hate you or something but if im just like fuck it im not being mean. i think you are the one being mean because you are always mean to me nomader what. its annoying so please stop.
Well i personally believe in the bible. However i do not believe that everybody who doesn't believe in jesus to hell. I am one of those people who is a christian and a evolutionist. I think that to be able to take the bible seriously you cant examine the passages that say "Stone gays to death." but i don't agree with you when u say that it isn't a good way to live your life.
