can there be such a thing as a christian existentialist? i was thinking about this today and a lot of the concept of existentialism i agree with...and then we were talking about some of these existential theologians and i was wonder if a christian existentialist could exist?

if so i think i could qualify myself as one

ohh most definitely. I'd say they'd probably have to be an extremely out-of-the-box thinker and be much more accepting than most christians allow themselves to be...of course, you wouldn't completely be an existentialist because when I think of an existentialist I think of someone who has absolutely no hope (aka the hope of christ) so you'd sort of be on the fence maybe?
i could definitely see you being a christian existentialist

According to my brief Wikipedia research, one of the main three branches of existentialism is Christian existentialism. So apparently, yeah. But I guess I would question the ability of the basic tenets of both to completely jibe. For example, creation and true divine love versus the ultimate randomness and chance of the universe. That kinda stuff.

I had to meet my mom for lunch before I finished reading the whole article. :)
