At pretty much every stage of the educational process, I can distinctly recall being sat down and told that the next stage was going to be vastly different and many times more difficult. Elementary and middle school paled in comparison to junior high, junior high school didn't have anything on high school, college was a whole different world than ( Read more... )

The line about riveting WWII bombers... I may have to steal that. I'm giving a speech to all the freshmen at Whittier's orientation next week in which I repeatedly lampoon the fact that I'm grossly older than most other students. Most of my jokes are lame, though. :(

Take it with my compliments -- I've been racking my brain trying to think of the other gems I've come up with, but they all tend to be spur-of-the-moment stuff.
