For actually educating yourself on issues before speaking. I'm not saying that sarcastically, I'm being dead serious. I appreciate you actually having valid opinions and not repeating something that you heard at Plea for Peace. You are my idol. LOVE.

Over the break, I had the pleasure of sitting down with my cousin(a strong patriot) and watching Saving Private Ryan. He said "The men in WW2 were a different breed. There aren't Americans around these days that would land on a beach and charge into impossible odds." He is wrong. There is men that will do that and not because they are poverty stricken or because it was a last resort. They do it because of their pride and because they see injustice in the world and don't care to sit around and let another Hitler emerge. They see a problem with the world and belive in their country and feel the need for defense. No, there is men like those of WW2, the difference is not the breed of soldier it is the citizens that have changed. Osama doesn't need to bomb us when our own people spread terror. The biggest threat is not Al Quida but the leftwingers that are on the streets screaming about how the war in Iraq is injust. Don't dishonor our troops and leave Iraq in shambles by promoting bringing our troops back before the job is done. ( ... )

Great old English song about "conscientious objectors" zorprime1985 January 10 2006, 06:40:51 UTC
Alfred Lester - "A Conscientious Objector"
(audio available at http://www.firstworldwar.com/audio/1915.htm )
Perhaps you wonder what I am; I will explain to you:
My conscience is the only thing that helps to pull me through.
Objection is a thing that I have studied thoroughly;
I don't object to fighting Huns, but should hate them fighting me!

Noncombatant battalions are fairly in my line,
But the sergeant always hates me, and he calls me baby names.
But, oh, I got so cross with him, I rose to the attack,
And when he called me "Ethel," I just called him "Beatrice" back.

Send out the Army and the Navy.
Send out the rank and file.
Send out the brave old Territorials;
They'll face the danger with a smile.
Send out the boys of the old brigade, who made old England free;
Send out me brother, me sister, and me mother, but
For God's sake, don't send me!
There's more to the song, but I don't want to spoil it all here. :)
