Written on your skin, The Affair, Cole (/Alison)callmeonetrackJanuary 1 2015, 15:40:53 UTC
(Oh man, this is super depressing and I am super rusty-- I wrote uh, zero fics in 2014. But Cole <3 <3 <3 )
He can't take another morning of waking up and looking into her eyes and seeing...not guilt. Not love either. Just...a blankness, as if she can't see him at all.
It wouldn't be so hard if he could just stop remembering what she used to look like. The way she used to look at him rather than through him. Laughing eyes and curving lips superimposed over her face like a ghost. Like their ghost.
Suddenly he's angry, furious at all that's left them.

Oh thank you so much! I wish the show was about him and his brothers and the ranch, honestly! Lol. Who cheats on surfing cowboy Pacey?! He has some great scenes in episode 7 and the finale!

DEFINITELY KEEP WATCHING!!
callmeonetrack is 1000% corrent about JJ in some of the latter episodes. He really knocks it outta the park. I definitely ship he and Alison more than Alison and Noah. I also ship Noah and Helen more than Alison and Noah. Maura Tierney has some incredible scenes in the latter episodes too.
Also, Max. OMG. "Getting huge, obviously". You won't have come across this scene yet, but when you do, you will now be primed to LOLFOREVER.
Enjoy watching the rest and report back as soon as you have!

I'm not surprised about JJ knocking scenes out of the park because he is Pacey Witter, and Pacey Witter is still my dream boyfriend.
I want to keep watching because I do love the different POVs; the subtle differences in how people remember the same events. But I just can't stand Noah. He gets on my nerves and it makes it hard to pay attention during his scenes.

It is absolutely, 100% definitely, worth putting up with Noah to get to all the gloriousness of everything else.
Even from a storytelling perspective, it's worth it. The subtle differences between recollections of events becomes a big(ger) thing as the show moves on too. To the point where it's probably the single biggest thing motivating me for season four. I WANT TO KNOW WHYYYY!! But I can't go into more detail without spoiling you, so I'll shut up now!
I pretty much never watched Dawson's Creek. Just the odd episode every now and then. I mostly know JJ from Fringe.

Oh good, I'm so glad! And thanks for the inspiring prompt as well! I've been meaning to jump back in lately, and this was a great bite-sized way to do it! :)

Thanks, lady! Despite the weird drug dealing/violent temper asides they wrote randomly for Cole (why is he so inconsistent when everyone else is so consistent? WEIRD), I find the character just heartbreaking.

At all that's left of them ( ... )

Okay, it's been decided. The Affair will be the next show I catch up on.

Also, if nothing else happens out of this mini-ficathon, the fact that you've written your first fic in over a year IS THE ACTUAL BEST! Wheeee!!
Thank you Cole! Haha!
