Is anyone watching the new season of The Affair? I am, but my feelings are so conflicted! So conflicted that I actually feel the need to brush the metaphorical cobwebs off this journal and try and sort my thoughts out the old fashioned way...!

I stopped watching this show part way through season 1. It wasn't a judgement call, I just kind of lost track and forgot about it. You've definitely got me intrigued!

I'm glad I've got you intrigued. It really is an excellent show and I hope I didn't come across as too down on it above, the cast are amazing and even with the crazy story-telling, I'm still all-in!!

If you get back into it, let me know. If you're a fan of JJ at all (I loved him in Fringe and have vague memories of DC), then it's almost* worth it for him alone. He's pretty phenomenal (imo!). Maura Tierney is also fabulous. And Ruth Wilson can basically do no wrong as far as I'm concerned so...!! Have you seen Luther?

* I say 'almost' because he doesn't have a lot of screentime, though that may be different this season where he gets his own POV segments (so does Helen).

Yeah, I see your point. I mean, I still like the format, but they're stretching it a little bit far right now. It didn't bother me that much this week, but the extremely different versions of Cole's visit kinda lost me.

I like the format, too! I LOVE deliberate deconstructions of unreliable narration. I feel like this has so much potential but they're not really taking that extra step? Or something! I mean, I've watched every episode that has aired to date (some of them, more than once), and yet I can't tell you a single meaningful thing about the characters that I know is true beyond the surface level stuff like the fact that Gabriel died and Noah had an affair, etc ( ... )
