Tomorrow I pick up my rental car and make the annual drive to the NC coast to spend Christmas with my family. As a gift to my Mom who has COPD and can't do all the things she wants to anymore, I have agreed to do all the cooking for the Christmas day meal. It will be OK. 18 years with the same company is a long time. It may have been time for a change anyway.

If I'd been much smarter with finances when I first started working this job and put a bigger percentage in my 401K Id have more options right now. I have an opportunity to buy/lease an established gallery in NM that already represents my art. I just don't have the kind of money saved that I'd need to take that kind of chance.

So I think I'll be looking at either hardcore freelancing or going back and working for a publishing company or management in some other decent sized company.
