Day Two: A Million Stars (Andromeda fic)

Mar 11, 2007 18:33

This piece was inspired, and written for, Iona's A Million Stars. Obviously, it's really written for my wonderful Little, Rita (wanderlight). I'm more than a bit nervous about this, so I hope you enjoy it. ♥

We are stars. )

So I turned off the lights, popped that song into my iTunes, sat down to read, and ended up crying on my keyboard. Enjoy it? I more than enjoyed this. I love the Black sisters -- Andromeda is one of my favourite HP characters! -- and I love the way you've characterised them: it's a light touch, but it's perfect. And then there's the gorgeous theme of constellations and stars throughout: new constellations to chart her life by, the starlight in Ted's eyes, the way Andromeda catches sight of the stars before her Sorting.

Almost against her will, she remembered that she couldn't see the stars from Ted's flat. -- This line breaks me. It's perfect.

You keep coming up with things that are so much more than nice gestures; it's like you're poking around in my head and finding exactly what I need at the moment. Thank you. I love this; I love this so much. ♥ ♥ ♥

It took me forever to reply to this comment, but you have no idea what this means to me. This is one of my favorite of my fics - generally, I don't do much in the way of metaphors, but I'm proud of how this one turned out.

(By the way, as an Andromeda fan, have you read allie_meril's in-progress fic, Finding the Sun - it's here, and it's lovely.)

Most people who try butcher metaphors, end of story. You? Don't. ♥ ♥ ♥ & yes, I have been reading Allie's Finding the Sun as it comes it, and it is lovely. You are all far too excellent writers, and I am jealous. :))
