I can barely keep my eyes open right now, but I wanted to let you know that I've read this, I cannot tell you how utterly fantastic it is and how much it means to me, and I will give you the love that you deserve when I'm thinking more coherently tomorrow. ♥ ♥
Ave, I am a bad person. You should hit me, or shoot me with rocksalt, or something. I am sorry to get to this one (properly) so late.
Let's discuss the awesomeness of "Recipe for a Remus" first...
Question: How wonderful is "Recipe for a Remus"? Answer: adsf;lkj;lasjdf;lkajsd;lj;j MORE THAN YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE. *explodes*
No, seriously. I keep trying to come up with ways to comment on this, and I get capslock instead. I can't even quote back my favourite bits to you because every line is perfect. SACRIFICIAL COMMAS.
... SACRIFICIAL COMMAS. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.
Have I ever mentioned, I'm quite bad at expressing excitement online?
I thought you were bringing the rocksalt? ;) (No, I'm not going to shoot you for not giving me feedback. It's a present, child. Presents don't have requirements attached to them.)
Actually, Recipe for a Remus was written mainly because I didn't think I had enough with just the fic, and I needed something to add. I'm not actually that fond of it, save the sacrificial commas.
I would hope you liked the fic as well, besides being distracted by sacrifical commas. ;)
But in my world they do, especially when they are Awesome. :pp It's part of my must-answer-comments complex, or something.
And "liking" the fic is a bit of an understatement. Love the time period, to begin with. It's one that's always fascinated me, and I've written fic on the topic before: I wish it was explored more, and was so glad you chose it and might have to ask you to write more... :D
I love how you've said things about Remus though what he does -- the bad days; driving to Hogwarts; no second date; calling in sick on the 31st. And the little detail of tea. There's so much sorrow in this era, and I think it's encapsulated in these lines: There were no cards and well wishes when he left, only averted eyes and silence. They understood his future, or maybe, just his past. He wasn't sure there was a difference.
And, oh. The ending -- of course he has to go back. ♥
I'm sorry I wasn't on this afternoon -- checked back & you weren't there. I'll try to be on tomorrow. ♥
I think you've passed your Must-Answer-Comments onto me, because I've felt guilty not responding to your comments. :P
When you're a bit more into Doctor Who, Noldo and I have a long-and-complicated explanation of what Remus did during those years. It involves Remus making lousy speeches at aliens. ;) That fic voucher is still there, you know. I'm certainly up for writing Remus.
