Of course I'll be their Auntie Jill. As far as I'm concerned, you can never have too many nieces and nephews. ;)
And I'm so proud of our country. And since becoming President-Elect, Obama has already done some things that have made me even prouder (declaring his intent to finally hold trials for the people in Gitmo, for one thing). The whole world was proud of us the day after the election. I could even see the excitement in the normally very stoic BBC America World News commentators. :)
I'm pretty bummed about Prop 8 passing, but hopefully the California supreme court will overrule that shit. People who bitch about the courts "thwarting the will of the majority of the people" need to remember that at one point in time, Jim Crow laws were supported by the majority of people. Just because the majority supports something doesn't make it right. Sometimes the courts have to step in and protect the minority from the tyranny of the majority. I hope to god that happens in this case.
