There was an earthquake in Myanmar on March 24th.

You probably didn't know.

While I applaud everyone who's donated/donating to Japan, since the earthquake/tsunami/nuclear meltdown/volcano, Japan doesn't really need all of the funds. In fact, the Japanese government is limiting their foreign assistance and asking people not to donate their old Read more... )

I'm so glad to hear that the government is asking for assistance! The last I'd heard, there was still some question of whether or not they would accept assistance (disclaimer: I am no expert on anything related to Myanmar, this was just based on comments I saw elsewhere), so I definitely need to go look into where to give.

I read today on ReliefWeb that the government had stated that it would accept help from humanitarian partners working in the country (I only know of World Vision and UNICEF.)

Whether or not they mean it, is probably besides the point as no one, it seems, is even mentioning their earthquake.
