So...there is a holdup in whether or not UCSF is going to hire me for this RA job. To make a long story (and believe me it is a long story) short, the prof/boss, Dr. Mackin, wants me. He thinks I am the best fit and he wants me for the job. However........there is a rule/law/whatever that says you have to give ex-UCSF employees-who-have-been-laid- ( Read more... )

Instead of listening to your friends who can't even find jobs, listen to the people who make 6-7 digits on internet stuff, they hang out here: http://www.wickedfire.com/ I would go full force with this but I am choosing 100% neuroscience instead.

Why don't you send friendly emails to every neuroscience lab/biology lab/psych lab/drug company in the area? I'm talking send at least 100 emails. I have never sent a resume in my life and I have 2 jobs at the moment. Tons of jobs are given unofficially. People are tricked into thinking they have to follow some official cookie cutter route.

Job searching is a bitch. And it sucks because you're applying to so many different types of jobs that you can't streamline a cover letter. Did I mention how much I hate those damn things? When I got my hair cut a couple weeks ago, the hairdresser told me that her husband applied to a job that had 300 chef's applications within 3 days. So it kind of makes sense when you think about it that way why some of us aren't getting hired. Not saying that it's fair, because it isn't ( ... )

I am a Sox fan! Cubs fans are like a buncha stupid frat boys! I think I saw Muse for the first time around that area, right around Wrigleyville. Anyway, I'm from the Hyde Park neighborhood, which is on the south side, basically 54th St. and Kimbark Ave. I remember when you and RaeChel visited, seems like ages ago.

Haha, so true on the frat boy comment! Funnily enough, when I was visiting Dave, his frat brothers were there and they went to the game on Sunday. That was the day I left and on the L I was stuck surrounded by those fools (not his friends, but just random Cubby fans - frat boys and sorority girls). Anyway, I can't speak for White Sox, but the Brewers are so much better because we can tailgate in the parking lot. It's all part of the baseball experience! The three b's: beer, brats, and baseball!
