Sick of listening to mediocre music

What is it with all the crap music now a days?

I just downloaded a whole heap of Razorlight songs, which many people seem to think is a good band, including the lovely Emma Watson.

I swear it was the most mediocre music I've ever heard.

IT SOUNDS THE SAME
TO EVERY OTHER INDIE ROCK SONG WITH A MALE LEAD
I'VE HEARD IN THE PAST 3 DAYS

Which is a lot.

I felt this way JUST before I discovered Electric Light Orchestra, who have some of the coolest-sounding music (and with violins) I've ever heard. They're of course a 70's band. Tough luck finding good stuff today, I wish I could give advice there but I can't really, not something that breaks the 4/4 time and verse/chorus/verse format. However, some of ELO's stuff is just instrumental. It's really good stuff and kinda trippy, but not in a drugged out sense.

Check them out!

this music isn't entirely unusual, but its pretty dang close. go listen to Eisley. but don't pick Telescope Eyes. It's their most popular song... and the most common. Listen to invasion or marsh king's daughter or something. like lost at sea. or something like that.

Cool, thanks for the recommendations. I haven't listened to any of those songs, but I will!

they kind of break out of the bounds of today's pop. they use compound meters and stuff like that. harmonies, xylophones, ect. my icon is their bass player. The coolt hing about the band is that they are all one family. 4 of them are siblings, and the bass player Garron is their cousin.
