Summary: When the one you hold closest to your heart has a curse of agony you can take away. Would you?

It was another day, another one of those days that the brunette was fiddling with the same knife. The same knife he had toyed with, ever since he broke one promise. It didn't matter anymore-he was already snapping through the promises made to friends. Why not just break them all; say that he was sorry but that… He had his reasons; he had his choices?

The knife now was blood caked, rusted on the edges from the numerous times it had lain on the tile floor, oxidizing in the water from the rag used to clean his messes. His bloody messes. The silent screams it had been audience to. It was like a friend. Friend indeed, it, alone, had stayed faithful. Something, someone, it had never been an object of his doubt. Never did he need to fear its betrayal.

It was some 9:43 pm. The same things over and over, click, click, sign in, smirk. His blog pulled up, everything he had ever dared to write to display to the world. He scrolled through them vapidly, mind on other things; hauling his slowly dying soul around, even if he loved his art to death, each passionate piece marking his descent into his own hell.
On the other side of the world, the same thing, over and over, click, click, sign in, sigh. His obsession with the very person who had captivated him for nearly a year.

Someone at the end of their rope? Let's look.

Ah, it was someone with fame, with notoriety and high-esteem all in one. Interesting. The same, Aoi. Load of comments down, all the same: “Stay stronger. You can do it. Believe in yourself. Etc.” He grinned to himself, a sort of grin, smiled when one discovers something worthwhile. He set his fidgeting hands to the keyboard and tapped away.

Let's leave a few words. A little help here and there. Won't hurt.

Aoi probably had been staring at the screen for some twenty minutes, index finger tapping against the worn left click button of his mouse

“I understand. Try as hard as you can of course. But I know one thing that held me. 'I'll be here for you.'”

Two days later, he witnessed the first occurrence, someone needed him.

“…if I have someone like you. I need you. Too much.”

It was the third time this month. And getting worse. All the time in between, it would be spent in a kind of high, Kai never knew when his lover would drop from, and they were sudden. With no way to understand completely, even just barely, whe went on in his mind, Kai could only grasp glimpses when the brunette was calm, or screaming. No warning, no notion, only the sound of the bathroom door slamming locked, cries that tore his soul to pieces.

So, it was why he was still searching for the nameless place he had sought by ear and word of mouth. Stuff of the darker side of rumors of man who was yet to be named human. Only he could help him now.

After four hours of searching on foot and motorbike, Kai was ready to drop dead, but at least, not give up. Most remarkable, he was cheering for his own stubbornness. Hell, it was 4 in the morning…but at least he would be safe. Safe in the hands of the private hospital Kai had rushed him to the prior near-deadly night.

He knew he had come to the right dirty, blackened concrete steps. He just knew from the way his gut wrenched, shuddering each step he took. He faced the gold, tarnished and rusting numbers-613. The address numbers jumped from 612 to 614 in pretty polished silver. Only when one stuffed themselves in the foot and a half wide crack between the two towering buildings, pushed past the dark, withering ivy climbing up both sides of the space, could one see the gold numbers.

The door was almost hidden behind the dying creepers. The brunette didn't know if he quite wanted to know what went on behind the seemingly derelict door. Taking one stifling breath, Kai stepped forward, only to be dragged in with a scream trailing out of his throat by a limb he could barely recognize as human.

Total blackness met his sight, his pupils dilated in his adrenaline rush, he was frozen in his panic. Until he heard a single, rasping voice:

“Why're you here?”

The voice was like an old blunt handsaw scraping against metal bars. Shivers ran down the length of his spine and he resisted the urge to shake himself out. His trembling only continued when the voice continued:

“Terrified an' shaking like a dinner rabbit. Speak, rabbit.”

“I…I. Y-You know wha-why I'm here… I-I'm…”

“…looking for the cure to take away your lover's pain.”

There was a momentary pause before the rough voice continued.

“Shut your eyes.”

Uncertainty bloomed within Kai but he did as told. He knew very well he could be dead in the next minute or so. But since he had been pulled in, he was still alive. Cloth of some kind was pulled over his eyes and tied at the back of his head. Beneath his closed eyelids, the sudden illumination lighting the inside of his eyelids red told him lights of some kind had been flicked on. A hand pushed him back until the back of his knees hit a low surface and he sat.

“Do you love him?”

“Wh-What’s that for?” Suspicion. Kai wondered somewhere in the back of his head if he and Aoi were stalked all the way to bed or something…

“Don't ask questions. Just answer. I'm wasting enough as is.”

The brunette fell silent at that. “Yes.”

“Willing to die for him?”

“…Yes.”

“You willing to keep your promise to him of eternity?”

“Yes.”

Kai was wondering why he was being asked this many useless questions until he felt a point of something sharp at the back his thin shirt, right on the collar. He froze; thought running amuck on what the hell the other…being was doing.

“Stay still. No sounds. Are you willing to suffer for him?”

“Yes.”

The knife ran down the length of his spine, he could feel the point barely on his skin, but it never pierced through. He knew had he not been blindfolded, he would have whipped around to inspect the red line down his back. Something held him to the other man's word. He didn't want to know; every time he had the thought of moving fully formed in his head, a screaming of what sounded like nails down a chalkboard echoed in his ears. It started again, Kai winced.

Apparently, the screaming came from the other entity in the room. “Quit moving.”

“Don't regret this. I can't reverse it.”

“I won't. Thank you.”

“Don't thank me. It has ten more years at most.”

The brunette didn't know quite what to make of the revelation that it, it could die? The one thing that had cursed his lover's existence since three years ago could die. Like a human, like any of them could. He was slightly cheered by the new knowledge. Another tool to fight back.

The voice broke Kai out of his thoughts and his focus returned to whatever was before blindfolded sight.

“Try not to scream.”

He was definitely confused. He had no idea what this man? want-

A hand pushed him hard, face smushed to the hard, smooth surface he had been sitting on. Originally he had presumed it was a bench; now it seemed more like a dinner table someone had thrown out…and he was on top of it. Maybe being called “rabbit” had a bit of a warning tone just as he had thought before.

The next thing Kai knew was only pain. Pain ripping down the length of his spine in the same way he had dreaded earlier when his quarter sleeve shirt had been cut away. Black ringed his sight, his vision tunneling dangerously as he heard the man talk to him through the haze

“You’ll be meeting something new tomorrow night.”

}{ I really didn’t want to rush this too much. But nooo. GET TO BED. NANANA. It’s bloody 10:10 pm. Yeah. I’m ARRRGH. F--- THIS. Piece of crud that took me three and a bit more hours to write -_-; AAAAAARGH. }{
