Today I auditioned for the Limon/Carr production of The Fantasticks. I saw Jennifer and Jason Webb there, Elise Gould, Stephanie Wood, Sydney Dever, Alan Everman. A lot of people I either knew or knew by reputation. All in all I was pleased because I didn't expect to even be considered because I've never worked with Ray Limon or Josh Carr, but ( Read more... )

Ummm I read it a while ago. I remember thinking it was odd, but not totally disliking it.

But I'm also horrible at remembering books and movies that I have read/watched, so I might not be the best person.

Oh well, I fail. lol

Thanks Sarah, lol. The part about the real estate agent saying the stain in the garage was an "oil stain", when it was really from Susie's body seeping through the sack Mr. Harvey put her in...I think that was what really horrified me. That, and the part where Len Fenerman takes the hat Susie's mom made back to her parents and tells them it was used to gag her... Or the part where Mr. Harvey and Susie's dad make a tent, and Mr. Harvey can look at him and interact with him like Susie never even mattered, like she wasn't someone's daughter and friend. I guess it's just hard to know that there are people like Mr. Harvey out there, with so little regard for lives other than their own, and that their victims don't do anything to deserve it; it could happen to any of us. Maybe that's actually a statement on what a powerful book it is, but I don't know if I can handle reading more of it.

Micki! I read that the day after I graduated...It was hard to read, and it does illustrate a lot of things that I'd rather pretend don't happen, but I was still kind of strangely glad to have read it. I thought it was good, not for the content or because I get some weird enjoyment out of little girls being raped and murdered, but...I guess because it has a strong effect on the reader. Does that makes sense? It made me care. I cried (and I felt like such a stupid girl for that) more than once when I read that book. It's intense, but I'm glad that I read it. So yes.

i loved that book. i love the idea, and even though some of the things she describes are a bit grotesque, the woman who wrote it really has a way with words, in my opinion. i love the way she wrote it.

and FANTASTICKS?!?!?!?! i miss that show...so much fun. i hope you get in!
