The machine either holds this message or Cain takes the call. Either way, the message is simple. A request for Cain Marko regarding one Marie D'Ancanto with a request from her for him to please come to the area emergency room as soon as possible.

He hangs up the phone. "Ben, watch the little kids, I gotta go." And he grabs the keys to his car so fast he crushes the fob, and races to the hospital, images of Marie dead or dying, or losing the baby flashing across his mind.

She had warned the nurse she asked to call Cain to keep an eye out for him. She told him what the SVU looked like, what he looked like. She was waiting for him at the main doors.

"Mister Marko, this way please."

Leading him to a corner room, the curtain pulled around it. Marie lay on the bed in a hospital gown, a bend about her belly to monitor the baby's heartbeat.

"Hey,' she whisperes, smiling a little. She looked pale but there were no marks on her. "I wrecked Vee. Well, I hit another car. Vee's fine but given the damage on the other car and...' She patted her belly. "They made me come in."

Not that he was hard to pick out of a crowd to start with. He follows the nurse in quickly, and Marie's in a hospital gown, but she's talking and not bleeding to death. He breathes a heavy sigh of relief. "Thank God you're alive."

A few seconds later doubt and fear creeps in. "Is...did you...?"

Reaching over, she took his hand. "The baby's fine, Cain.' She chuckled a little. "Baby, nothing can happen to Vee. That car is made for a...' She paused, casting her voice very, very low. "A superhero. It's not even scratched. But I kinda of put a dent in a truck."
