cool things

So I had a couple of cool things happen to me this morning and I need to stop and recognize them before I forget entirely, even if it's only to make notes so I come back to it later.

Cool thing number one:
Last night before rehearsal I stopped into the Gap. I needed shirts. Or, more specifically, I needed less-risque shirts. I know that Gap can be a hit or miss stop for me, but thankfully last night was a definite hit. I found not just one, but three shirts that not only fit the bill - less revealing and/or tight-fitting, something I would be caught dead in, and... above all, were in my size! Not only that but on clearance. Yes, I do love to get a bargain - it's a bit of a power-rush for me (that would be the Domestic Goddess influence) So, in all, I got two darling long-sleeved button-up shirts and a long sleeve t-shirt for $25. But... I didn't.

I got home after rehearsal and met Peter with my purchases only to have him inquire as to how much I spent. When I checked my receipt, I discovered that one of the shirts rang-up at $29.99, not the $9.99 I intended to pay. Have to admit that I felt pretty blond at that moment. I had worn the shirt to practice and discarded the tag along the way. I had no proof of any wrong-doing and didn't think the Gap would be willing to indulge me in what I meant to do. But what the hell, why not at least try? So I did. I went back to the Gap this morning and quickly found a manager to hear my situation.

This manager could not have been further from the traditional Gap Sales Clerk mold. But fortunately for me, he was in my target demographic - and he wasn't gay. He was extremely sympathetic and didn't hesitate to give me a price adjustment, even going so far as to admit that it wasn't really something that they would usually do. I made of point of commending his customer service skills and left with an extra $20 in my pocket. Thank you Gap!
