Great. So I go from one world where silver haired psychos want to destroy the planet, to trapped in a city where I'm not being told that when the clock strikes '0' or something, everything's going boom.

Well then I bet it sucks to be you. As for the countdown, all I know is that it's got to do with why we're all here and the went it reaches zero, all the worlds are gone for good. Or something... not too keen on readin' about how the world's end.
