I won the tournament yesterday, hurray! I think I made fewer mistakes than I ever have in a tournament, though perhaps readers will disillusion me. Games are on my cross-tables page in a disorganized fashion, since the tournament results haven't been uploaded yet. Game numbers are 10423-10428. The game against Kenji was absurd. I considered keeping a Y too, but I don't think it's worth it to do LOGIC. How close would it have to be to play LYCEA? COLY? Are there any other plays you would make in between the margins of COLY and LYCEA?

If you're ahead by at least 30 before this play, I think AGILELY for 11 is the best, and quite hard to lose after. You plow thru the bag for the still moderately useful S's, and you limit more things for opponent than with any other play, and you still have the C if you need to make another defensive play. Under 30 or behind, LYCEA looks right for points and tiles and openings; the last G with half the N's unseen makes it a more useful than usual keeper too.

1) a. I wouldn't be so excited that you're "blocking off lanes with YAMUNS." The bottom right quadrant can be opened, and there isn't a darn thing you can do about it, which likely means the bottom left will also get opened, too, sooner or later ( ... )

Wow, I've only won a game by over 400 points twice (430 and 453!). Coincidentally, they both came against the same opponent. My next biggest margin of victory is 366. I wish vinylchances had been around to see that game in person.

Glad you seem to be back into Scrabble again after that hiatus you took a while ago.

If Noah gives me the code, I'll give my racks. It wasn't my best game ever, but it wasn't like I was playing terrible either. The biggest mistake I made was playing AUNTIE for 24 and missing the same word for 32 elsewhere.

There's a code that appears after you upload the game if you want to edit the gcg later. I don't usually keep it when I upload my games, so you'd have to re-upload it otherwise.

I'm sure I played worse than you in my biggest loss, but that was "only" by 329. If I had found HEMAGO(G)S I would still never a 300+ point loss in tournament play.
