My first instinct was (L)UGE because there were so many Es left. You give yourself three new lanes to work (G, E, and hook D,R, or S) with instead of just two. However, I don't know if that's better or worse. Nice to see I was thinking along the same lines as you, though.

(To Noah and others who've read: everyone else, disregard) I think the technique I laid out in my book is extremely strong when it comes to evaluating this position and pretty much points pretty clearly to one answer. That being said, if you don't have a way of paring down the choices pretty methodically, this is a pretty nightmarish position to try to deduce. That being said, try to figure out what the book would recommend.

Small chance I'll steal this position, but not very likely.

You have to play something like what you did that turn -- what else are you going to try to do with this turn? Either you set up a lane, or you play long. Playing long won't really help you win.

What would I do? I don't know; maybe 10E GU since I'm a Collins player.

maybe (R)EG for 20. it gives a good shot at winning if you draw OUTREAD.
