Dean still hadn't gotten the basic function of his legs back yet and moving his arms even enough to spin the wheels of the chair they'd given him was a chore but his voice had returned to him strong enough to yell at the nurses when they doted too much and he could regularly debate with House when he was in here calling him the medical mockery.
When he woke he was on his side and the first sound to leave him was a groan as he reached back for the wall and pushed himself into a better position. He barely noticed, Cas. The only thing on his mind was his cool water bottle and the B side of his Zeppelin tape. Then more sleep.
Castiel's head picked up when he heard the creak of the bed, watching for a moment as Dean moved. He assumed that his presence would be obvious, but when Dean didn't seem to notice, he assumed it would be best to speak up.
"Cas?" Dean wasn't sure it was him. He'd been in the hospital for a matter of weeks and there'd been no sign of Cas. Not even after he'd called him. Dean sat up and took a drink from the bottle, blinking blearily in the darkness at his silhouette.
He nodded from his seat in the chair, just looking at the floor and trying to find the best way to put things. "I am sorry I wasn't here sooner. I have been trying to outrun Raphael's squad. They weren't pleased that Michael had spared my life for disobeying."
He glanced over after a moment, looking over Dean with gentle eyes. "You seem well."
