bondsjamesbonds It had been a few months since Neal's commutation hearing. For Peter, his world seemed to slip away after that. As much as he hated the idea of Neal being on the run, anything was better to seeing him working for Agent Kramer. So much had happened after Neal left. In a way, he was kind of glad that Neal wasn't there to see it all go down.
He tried hard to persevere. If it hadn't been for El, he's sure he would have really spiraled. As much as he loved El and was grateful for her in his life, it didn't change how much he missed Neal. Those annoying fedoras that now he couldn't get out of his head. He even added a little of the Rat Pack to his mp3 player. Oh, he had it bad.
Peter sighed as he stared out at nothing in particular. The day was nice, a bright sun trying to peek out from behind the few clouds in the sky. Playing hooky, Peter enjoyed a cup of coffee as he watched people pass by him. Central Park was nice this time of the morning. It was early, so not many were out yet.
"Neal would like this," he murmured to himself. Reaching beside him, he grabbed his copy of the newspaper and looked at the headline.
HOPE DIAMOND TO APPEAR AT THE MET.
His eyes widened as he saw the headline on the paper. Skimming the article, he almost felt his heart skip a beat at what he saw. To celebrate the anniversary of the Met, the Hope Diamond was going to be on display for a very short time. He could only imagine who might want to steal it. And then he felt that twinge in his heart. "He wouldn't... Would he?"
It was grasping at straws. Neal wouldn't be that stupid. Would he? And yet, Peter wanted to see Neal so bad. Jumping to his feet, he began to walk out of the park. The Met wasn't far. He could get there easily. And if Neal was going to do something like that, he'd case it first.
There was someone at the Met Peter needed to talk to right away.
