I have learned to answer all resident inquiries regardless of to whom they appear to be directed, only to be informed more oft than not that the initial replies were "rhetorical" or "sarcasm".

Be warned, Warden, that you are in need of allies more than you are of enemies. Being less cryptic would assist you in that, as well as gain you more support and less antagonism. They are a suspicious lot.
