[The feed cut in to the bottom half of a man's face. His mouth is twisted into a grimace of concentration, and for a few long moments he seems to be only fiddling with buttons. Then, a look of realization! He rights the camera and it focuses on his face]

Is this... recording me?

[It takes a few moments for the idea to settle. A bare bitter smirk ( Read more... )

[Gently:] Uh, hey. Don't panic. You're on a ship. [Pause.] That's in space. And technically kind of a prison.

[She sucks at this.] But you're safe. [...] Ish.

[It takes a little fiddling for him to figure how to respond proper; stupid thing, it needed to be more mage user friendly!]

... A ship? In space? Doesn't that sound like the beginning of a wonderfully trite tale...

[Anders frowns deeply; he's more concerned that he's really showing]

Who are you? And why don't you do me a favor and define "safe-ish"?

[Oh god why does she do this. Buffy sucks at welcoming committee things. She searches for the right words, feeling awkward and hesitant to say too much.]

Safe-ish meaning: You're probably dead back home, and- Well, you're kinda on the inmate-y side of things. And by kinda I mean really. Plus, the Barge? Not really the poster-child for safe environments.

I'm Buffy. [Tiny wave, slightly sympathetic smile.]

Dead...?

[This pause is perhaps not as long as it should be]

Yes, that... that does make sense.

[Solemn Anders is solemn. Only, he cracks the tiniest smile-ish thing at her ramblings]

Buffy, then. Would you mind running all of that by me again? I don't think I caught the important bits. What's an "inmate-y", exactly?

[Well, Buffy's got The Talk covered, so.]

Hello. What's your name?

wardennolonger December 7 2011, 02:01:12 UTC
You may call me Anders.

And who might you be, stranger?

My name's Merlin.

Are you all right, Anders? Hurt or wounded at all? [Inmates generally aren't but there's a first time for everything. :c]

It's nice to meet you, Merlin. Well, maybe I should re-word, considering the circumstances... [a small, bitter laugh]

It is kind of you to check, but I'm fine. Quite capable of taking care of myself, actually. I've experience with healing.

[Have a creepy gold man in black robes with a raspy voice.] Presumably, you died.

Yes, I've gone and gathered that much.

[A pause-- goodness this person is unnerving]

And... who might you be? If you leave me without a name I'm afraid you'll be tagged with 'Unnerving Black Cloak Man' until I learn otherwise.

'Maker'...

[SUSPICIOUS MORRIGAN. But also a torso-length one, more or less. Her device is laying on a table inside her awesome room of potions and things. Is that some lyrium filling a few vials? Yes. Yes, it is.]

Has been long, indeed, since hearing that.

[Anders narrows his eyes as the memory of a very long ago time flickers into focus]

You... I know you. At least, I'm fairly certain that I do.

[Oh look, familiar things!]

Is that lyruim, in those vials? How did you happen across such things in this place?

Oh, you do, do you?

[A glare? Slight confusion? Curiosity? Perhaps all three!]

A carpenter has saw and wood. A warrior, their blade and shield. I, a mage, have need of other things... But 'tis rare, indeed, for one to know of lyrium here.

Know you of Ferelden?

Yes, I'm almost sure I do. I think I remember you from when I traveled with The Warden...

Ah, yes. I spent a good part of my life living in Ferelden. And I know what lyrium is for, I simply wanted to know how you came across it. Having some on hand would be useful.

You're on the Barge. It's sort of an afterlife, as you seem to have guessed.

I feel rather... alive, for this being some kind of after-life.

Well, the Barge does try to provide creature comforts.

How nice. I'm also appreciating the 'no irons and chains' bit. For a prison ship, it's rather hospitable.
